This post is part of a series in which I share some of my favorite Internet finds (related to career advancement and professional development) from the past week. Enjoy!
From Yours Truly
I wrote a few new articles for Ivy Exec over the past week. If you missed them, take a peek here:
What Managing Up Really Means & 3 Helpful Techniques
For those who misinterpret the mandate to “manage up,” the consequences can be dire. Here you’ll learn what it really means and how to do it in the right way.
How to Recover After Bombing the Interview
Job interviews are tough business. Here are a few helpful do’s and don’ts to learn from bad experiences and make sure they never happen again.
Are You a Work Martyr?
I really enjoyed this article on “work martyrs” (people who are willing to unnecessarily suffer for their work) and why they’re harmful for organizational culture. I recommend reading it with a self-analytical point of view. Do you have work martyr tendencies? If so, recognize that this mindset doesn’t help the people around you—and it’s especially harmful to your life and career.
Nerd Alert! Awesome Ebook Deals
Thanks to my mom’s recommendation, I have fallen in love with BookBub, a daily email service that notifies me of seriously discounted (and even free!) ebooks available on Amazon. It costs nothing to sign up and, once you do, you can select the genre of book deals you want to see. My favorite categories are self-help, business, and true crime. (Can you say, “Nerd”?)
At least once a week, I grab a new book for $0.99 or less. My Kindle library is totally stocked and I love it. Perhaps you will too! Fellow nerds, rejoice!
